Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year of 2003. The department is very popular with the industries.The department has excellent infrastructure in keeping with the latest trends. For instance CAM lab is equipped with FANUC system controlled CNC lathe commercial production model and milling machines. The faculty members are not only committed to the teaching profession but also involve themselves in research and development. The outcome of their Research has been published in reputed national and international journals.

In addition to this, eminent academic luminaries from reputed educational institutions like IIT, Anna University and NIT are invited to deliver Guest lectures and enrich students’ knowledge.

The faculty members have published a good number of research papers in national and international conferences in their field of specialization. About eight faculty members are pursuing their PhD in various technical universities. The different fields of specialization of our faculty members include industrial engineering, Computer Aided Design, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Energy Engineering, Thermal Engineering and Engineering Design.

The department has been producing excellent results with distinction in the university examinations consistently.
